New Schlage CO Series has Replaced the King Cobra and PRO Series

In the fall of 2010, Schlage Lock Company introduced its new CO-200 and CO-250 series standalone access control line of locks as replacements for their KC and PRO series locks that were discontinued in December, 2010. Like the new AD series that has taken the place of the CM, CL, VIP and WA series locks (also to be discontinued in December, 2010), the new CO series uses Schlage ND series grade 1 levers and chassis, so that unlike the old KC and PRO series, these new models use a key-in-lever cylinder instead of a mortise cylinder.

The SNAP programmer, used to program the KC-2 series King Cobra locks, has been replaced by the new HHD programming device. The HHD can be used to program the old KC locks, but that SNAP will not be compatible with the new CO series locks.

The old I-button touch chip credentials have been more or less retired, but the some models in the new CO series offer a prox reader, so functions formerly performed by a touch chip can be performed by a prox credential instead. Schlage has produced a fob-style credential that has a prox chip on one side and a touch chip on the other for systems that have both old KC series and new CO series locks.

These changes occurred concurrently with the closing of the Forestville, CT, factory, formerly known as Locknetics.
